Should I use teething gels or other remedies?

Teething gels are falling out of favor with parents who want a safe, all-natural teething solution. That’s because teething gels usually contain benzocaine or lidocaine to numb the area where the tooth is erupting. These ingredients can be harmful if used improperly and can even be toxic if large concentrations build up in your baby’s body. The same can be said for aspirin and of course alcohol. Rubbing a little brandy on sore gums may have been popular in grandma’s day, but alcohol could be harmful for a baby in any amount.
